Meet Our Artists

Sonita Surratt, (Soprano) is a graduate of SUNY Geneseo. She has performed with Glimmerglass Opera Company and Syracuse Opera Company. Her theatre credits include the role of Jacintha in the off-Broadway production of Testimony. She is also recognized for her original works A Forgotten Voice and I'm Every Womon.

Heather Hess, (Pianist) is a graduate of the Crane School of Music and the University of Nebraska. She teaches piano in her own studio, at DeSantis Music Schoolhouse, and for Aardvark Music. In addition to her work with Opera in the Hood, she is Music Director at Onondaga Hill and Cedarvale Methodist Church in Syracuse NY.

Madison, (Actor) is Michele's sister. Her acting credits include a variety of character voices for Rising Sun Production Radio Dramas.

Janus Surratt, (Actor), Founder and Artistic Director of New Format Improvisation in NYC, and creator of the critically acclaimed Subway Series. He is a graduate of Syracuse University and the Second City Conservatory in Chicago. He has appeared on stage and television. His theatre credits include Once Upon a Mattress, Grapes of Wrath and Once on an Island.
